FAIR DAMAGE & REPAIR POLICY
Read this policy before booking
At Clip-Point Hire Ltd, we aim to keep our vehicle hire conditions clear, fair, and completely transparent. High-performance track driving comes with inherent risks, and understanding your financial exposure before getting behind the wheel ensures a stress-free experience on circuit.
CLIP POINT HIRE — FAIR DAMAGE & REPAIR POLICY
1. FINANCIAL LIABILITY OVERVIEW
The Hirer assumes full financial liability for any physical, cosmetic, structural, or mechanical damage caused to the vehicle during the hire period. This includes, but is not limited to, damage resulting from driver error, collisions, spins, wall contact, or off-track excursions.
Normal operational wear and tear—such as standard tyre usage, clutch wear (not due to driver misuse), and brake pad wear—is fully covered by Clip Point Hire Ltd.
2. SECURITY DEPOSIT
- Pre-Authorization: Prior to receiving the keys on event day, a £800.00 pre-authorized hold will be placed on your credit or debit card (or £500.00 if DLR cover was validly purchased).
- No Damage: If the vehicle is returned in its original condition with no physical or structural damage, the hold will be released in full.
- Incident / Damage Occurs: In the event of an impact or structural damage, the hold will be retained immediately pending repair assessment.
3. DAMAGE ASSESSMENT & REPAIR CALCULATIONS
If a vehicle sustains physical or structural damage during your session:
- Repairs Under Deposit Amount: The exact repair fee (parts and labor at trade/at-cost price) will be deducted, and any remaining deposit balance refunded.
- Repairs Exceeding Deposit Amount: The Hirer remains liable to pay the remaining balance required to restore the vehicle, subject to the chosen liability option below.
- +/- £100 Variance Buffer: All initial repair estimates carry a +/- £100.00 variance buffer to accommodate trackside component pricing shifts and immediate labor variations without delaying deposit returns. Adjustments within this £100 range stand as final upon settlement.
4. DAMAGE COVER OPTIONS (MUST SELECT ONE)
OPTION A: Standard Self-Insurance (Included — £0.00)
- Out-of-Pocket Excess Cap: £2,500.00
- Pre-Auth Hold: £800.00
- Summary: Standard financial liability for structural or mechanical damage, capped at £2,500.00.
OPTION B: Damage Liability Reduction / DLR (£35.00 Upfront Fee)
- Out-of-Pocket Excess Cap: £500.00
- Pre-Auth Hold: £500.00
- Summary: Caps maximum out-of-pocket financial liability for crash damage at £500.00.
Important Note: DLR is voided in cases of mechanical negligence (over-revving/miss-shifting), driving under the influence, or breaching track safety rules.
5. CIRCUIT & TRACK INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGE
Circuit operators charge separately for any physical damage caused to venue property (Armco barriers, tyre walls, oil/fluid cleanups). These fees remain 100% the Hirer's responsibility and are completely separate from vehicle damage caps.
6. DRIVER CAPABILITY & RIGHT OF TERMINATION
It is the sole responsibility of the hirer to ensure they possess basic manual vehicle control and rear-wheel-drive handling skills. Clip Point Hire reserves the right to immediately terminate any session without refund if the driver demonstrates insufficient control or poses a safety risk.
7. VEHICLE INSPECTION PROTOCOL
- Pre-Track Inspection: Joint exterior and mechanical walkaround logged and signed before handover.
- Mid-Day Checks: Inspections conducted during pit stops and lunch break.
- Post-Event Inspection: Final condition check at session end.
8. FAIR WEAR & TEAR VS. BILLABLE DAMAGE
- Cosmetic & Bodywork: Minor surface scuffs, rubber marks, stone chips, and small dents fitting inside our Sizing-Box Template are covered. Dents exceeding the sizing-box, punctured/torn panels, or destroyed livery/graphics are billable.
- Wheels & Tyres: Surface scuffs/brake dust are covered. Buckled, cracked, or structurally compromised wheels are billable.
- Mechanical & Drivetrain: Standard service wear is covered. Damage from driver misuse/negligence - including over-revved engines ("money shifts"), broken engine mounts, burned clutches, or destroyed diffs/gearboxes—is billable.
- On-Track Collisions: Regardless of fault in a multi-car incident, damage to the hire car is the sole responsibility of the hirer up to their agreed cap (£2,500 standard / £500 DLR).
9. REPAIR COSTING & DEDUCTIONS
1. Replacement parts/materials are charged at trade/at-cost prices plus required labor.
2. Costs are deducted directly from the deposit or invoiced up to the applicable Damage Liability Cap.
3. Final deductions reflect the agreed +/- £100 variance buffer.
