Meet the Drifter Behind Clip-point Hire

Reece is the founder and driving force “aka The Boss”! behind Clip-Point Hire. Built on a lifetime of motorsport engineering and competitive & professional driving, he launched the business with one clear mission: to break down the barriers holding people back and get more drivers sideways on track stress free.

Meet the boss: Petrolhead from Day One

For some people, motorsports is a hobby. For the boss, it’s been the blueprint of his entire life. Long before he was sliding through hairpin turns at full throttle, he was a toddler sitting on the living room floor, "driving" imaginary race cars using VHS tapes as steering wheels.

That childhood obsession quickly turned into real tyre smoke:

Grass Track Roots (Ages10-16): Raised on exhaust fume’s and weekend dirt, he spent his youth alongside his dad and brother racing classic Minis on grass track circuits—learning the ropes from his long suffering dad, a veteran rally cross, banger, and grass track racer who served as chief mechanic and inspiration, while his mum kept the pit crew fed, watered, and on track with endless packed lunches.

24 Hours of Endurance (Ages 17–21): Graduated to high-stakes endurance go-karting, competing on the international stage at the legendary Le Mans 24-Hour Kart Race.

Engineering & The Highway: Qualified formally as a Motorsport Engineer before taking a temporary pause from competitive racing to build a professional driving career—mastering everything from 3.5-tonne vans to 44-tonne container rigs and high-consequence ADR dangerous goods fuel tankers.

Enter the drift…

At age 25, he dipped his toe into drifting for the first time. In fact, selling his second drift car paid for arguably the most important addition to the team: Bonnie, our beloved French Mastiff (Dogue de Bordeaux) and official Clip-Point Hire mascot!

By 2025, the track called him back permanently. He hit the circuit non-stop—much to the playful annoyance of "Mrs. Clip-Point Hire," who, despite all her moaning, is his biggest fan and supporter! She was right there in the pits watching him claim 2nd Place in a recent round of the L2D Road to Drift League Championship, with his sights now set firmly on full Drift League competition in the future.

Why we started clip-point hire

Having spent a lifetime on the circuit, we’ve seen the exact same hurdles stop passionate driving fans from ever getting out onto the track:

No drift-ready car sitting in the driveway.

Zero space at home to store a dedicated track car or the mountains of spares always needed!

No tow rig, trailer, or storage to transport a car to the circuit.

No mechanical crew to fix things when they inevitably break on track.

Drifting is our absolute passion, and we built Clip-Point Hire to eliminate every single one of those barriers. We handle the builds, the transport, the mechanical prep, and the tyre changes—so all you have to do is turn up, strap in, and get sideways!
