Track rules & safety briefing

The rules are there to keep you safe

Your safety and the security of our vehicles are our top priorities. Before taking any Clip-Point Hire vehicle onto the circuit, all drivers and passengers must read, understand, and agree to the following safety rules and briefing guidelines.

1. Driver Eligibility & On-Site Requirements

Driver’s License: You must present a full, valid UK driver’s license (or valid international equivalent) at morning sign-in.

Driver Capability:Anyone with a full manual license can legally reserve a car, but drifting requires real car control. We want you to have an incredible day, not spend it filling out damage reports. Please self-assess your skill level honestly before booking—if our pit crew determines you lack the basic control required for the track layout, we will pull you off track for safety, with no refunds issued.

Zero Tolerance Policy: Drivers must be 100% free from the influence of alcohol or drugs. Random testing or immediate removal from the event without refund will occur if impairment is suspected.

Driver Briefing Attendance: Attending the official circuit safety briefing on the morning of your event is mandatory. Missing the safety briefing will delay or forfeit your track time.

2. Mandatory Clothing & Safety Gear

Required Attire: Drivers and passengers must adhere to individual track rules concerning in-car attire. Please check with your chosen track.

Helmets: Approved helmets must be worn and securely fastened at all times while on the circuit. Clip-Point Hire provides free helmet hire, but you are welcome to wear your own helmet.

3. Circuit Flags & Track Signals

You must strictly obey all marshal flags and light signals around the circuit at all times:

Red Flag / Red Light: Immediate session abort. Slow down safely, stop overtaking, and return to the pit lane immediately at reduced speed.

Yellow Flag / Yellow Light: Hazard ahead (e.g., spun vehicle or oil on track). Slow down, hold line, and strictly no overtaking until clear of the incident area.

Black Flag: Individual summons to the pits. Drive directly to the Clip-Point Hire garage or pit exit marshal to report.

Chequered Flag: End of session. Complete your cooling-off lap at reduced speed and return to the pits.

4. Vehicle Care & Driving Etiquette

Mechanical Care: Driver error leading to engine over-revs (miss-shifting), driving on flat or rim-exposed tyres, or ignoring warning lights/gauges will void liability caps and result in immediate session termination.

Vehicle Monitoring & Pit Stops: To ensure the reliability of our fleet and maximize your driving time, our pit crew will actively call you into the pits at regular intervals during your session. These brief stops are mandatory. They allow the vehicle's engine and fluids to cool down and give our mechanics a chance to perform quick visual and tire checks. Overdriving the car without allowing it to cool leads to mechanical failure and extended downtime. Respect the pit board when we call you in—short, intense stints keep the car reliable and keep your damage liability cap intact.

Pit Lane Speed Limit: Obey the circuit pit lane speed limit (typically 10/15 mph) at all times.

5. Passengers & Spectator Rules

Passenger Restrictions: Only one passenger is permitted in the vehicle at any time. Passengers must be at least 16 years old, fully signed in with circuit waivers, and wearing full safety gear.

Pit Lane Access: Spectators must remain in designated spectator areas and are strictly forbidden from entering the active hot pit lane unless cleared by Clip-Point Hire staff.

Compliance with these rules is monitored by both Clip-Point Hire staff and circuit marshals. Failure to follow safety instructions or reckless driving will result in immediate termination of your session with no refund.
