Frequently asked questions
Got questions? We got the answers
Getting out onto the circuit should be exciting, not complicated. Whether you’re curious about our financial liability caps, what gear to bring, or how our pit crew handles tyre swaps on the day, we’ve broken down everything you need to know below.
If you can’t find the answer to your question here, drop our team a message—we’re always happy to talk track prep, cars, and availability.

You must be over 18 and hold a valid, full driver’s license (UK or international equivalent). *Please note if you have never drifted on a track or you’re a complete novice, we strongly advise you have a lesson or two before hiring from us as you are liable for a lot of money if you crash the car, and you will crash the car! Please scroll down to see how to book lessons* We will take your license details when you book your track day, and you will need to produce your physical license during pit sign-in on the morning of your event. Please don’t forget to bring your license as we won’t be able to let you run if we haven’t seen it!
-
While a full UK driving license is all that’s technically required to book, please assess your own rear-wheel-drive experience before hitting the track. Remember: you are financially liable for damage, and we reserve the right to end a session if a driver poses a risk to themselves, others, or the car. If your only driving experience is 10 minutes in an automatic hatchback, this might not be the time to play drift hero! Instead book a lesson with L2D, they’ll teach you how to skid and then you can hire from us without blowing your credit rating!

Nope—we focus strictly on hiring out track-ready drift cars for you to shred. If you’re completely new to drifting and looking for structured step-by-step tuition, we highly recommend checking out Learn 2 Drift

Drifting is high-energy, and minor wear and tear is part of the sport—it’s a fact! But we always aim to be fair.
To keep things totally transparent and protect your wallet, we use a clear, step-by-step inspection process throughout your session:
1. Pre-Hire Walkaround: Before you touch the track, you and our mechanic perform a complete inspection together to log all pre-existing marks or scuffs. You both sign off on this so everyone is on the same page.
2. Pit Stop Checks: Every time we bring you into the pits for a quick cool-down, our crew gives the car a fast visual and mechanical check to ensure everything is safe, tyres are intact, and the vitals are happy.
3. Mid-Day Lunch Check: Halfway through the event, we conduct a full mid-session inspection to log any new wear or body marks alongside you.
4. Post-Hire Final Walkaround: At the end of your day, we do a final review to sign off on the car's condition.
What Counts as Fair vs. Billable Damage?
Cosmetic Dents & Bodywork: We use a simple "sizing box" gauge on trackside panels. Minor scuffs or small dents that fit inside the box are considered fair wear and tear. If a dent exceeds the box size, panels are torn/punctured, or a component requires a full replacement, the hirer pays.
Mechanical Abuse & Driver Behavior: If we see you abusing the vehicle (e.g., bouncing off the rev limiter in neutral, flat-foot shifting, or riding the clutch), we will pull you into the pits to give you a fair warning and help you sort it out. If you ignore the warnings and blow a component through mechanical abuse, or if you crash into a barrier/another driver, you are liable for the repairs.

When you rent a drift car with us, we keep our damage process straightforward and transparent so you know exactly where you stand before hitting the circuit.
1. Security Deposit
Before you take the keys, we will place a £800 pre-authorization hold on a credit card in the hirers name. Normal wear and tear is 100% covered by us. The deposit is only used if the car sustains physical or structural damage from track incidents, spins, wall contact, or collisions. If you bring the car back damage-free, the £800 hold is released in full.
2. Choose Your Liability Option
You can select how much risk you want to carry on the day:
Option A: Standard Cover (No extra fee)
Your maximum financial liability for damage to the car is capped at £2,500. If repair costs are less than £800, we simply deduct the exact cost from your deposit and refund the rest. If repairs exceed £800, you are responsible for the remaining balance up to the £2,500 cap.
Option B: Damage Liability Reduction (£35 upfront)
Pay a non-refundable £35 waiver fee before your session to shrink your risk. This lowers your maximum out-of-pocket cap for car damage down to just £300. (Note: This reduction is instantly voided by mechanical negligence, rule-breaking, or driving under the influence).
Please note: Any damage caused to track infrastructure (such as Armco barriers, tyre stacks, or circuit oil cleanup fees) is billed directly by the track venue and remains the driver’s responsibility.

Yes. You will need to purchase your driver entry ticket directly from the track operator hosting the event (e.g., L2D, Shift & Drift, Santa Pod) for your chosen date. Clip-Point Hire provides the track-ready car, fuel, tyres, and pit support, but circuit entry fees are set and charged by the venue itself.

Drifting is tough on hardware, and mechanical failures can occasionally happen despite our meticulous pre-event maintenance. If a car suffers a genuine mechanical breakdown that our pit crew cannot fix on the day—and it isn't caused by driver misuse or negligence—we’ve got your back:
Alternative Fleet/Track Car: Depending on the venue, we will always try to swap you into an available backup car or work with the circuit to get you into a spare vehicle so you can keep driving.
Reschedule / Drift Credit: If no alternative car is available, we will issue a pro-rata credit or transfer your remaining driving time to a future drift date based on the track time lost.
Pro-Rata Refund: If rescheduling doesn't work for you, we’ll process a fair pro-rata refund for the remaining time you missed.
Please note: This applies strictly to unavoidable mechanical component failures. It does not cover downtime caused by driver error, crashes, or mechanical damage from vehicle abuse.

We run rain or shine! In drifting, a wet track is actually a massive bonus: it lowers tyre wear, reduces entry speeds, and lets you slide the car with incredible control. Unless the circuit operators cancel the entire event due to extreme weather (e.g., severe freezing or heavy flooding), your booking proceeds as planned.
-
Yes. Every standard rental includes your initial full tank of high-octane fuel, your base allocation of track tyres, and dedicated pit mechanic support all day. If you burn through your initial tyre allocation faster than expected, extra fresh tyre sets are available for purchase directly from us or you are welcome to bring your own suitable wheels (5×120 16)
-
Absolutely. Spectators are welcome to join you in the pit lane free of charge (subject to circuit gate rules). You can also take passengers out on track during your stints as long as you have purchased a passenger ticket (if you have signed up for our “Balls Deep” package we throw a passenger ticket in for free, you’re welcome!) they sign the circuit waiver at sign-in and wear an approved safety helmet. Passenger tickets are available to buy from the venue.
-
You are welcome to bring your own crash helmet if you have one. If not, we provide sanitized, high-quality helmets in various sizes free of charge. Please check your chosen venues policy for in car clothing requirements as all tracks do differ.
